Away fans will be given the opportunity to return to Old Firm clashes next season after an agreement between both Celtic and Rangers.

An allocation of 2,500 visiting supporters will be allowed to attend the respective grounds in 2024/25.

But that means when Celtic go up against Rangers at Ibrox on April 7, there will be no Bhoys fans in attendance.

And the same will go for Rangers supporters when they visit Parkhead as the campaign continues.

SPL chiefs were keen to find a resolution after Celtic refused around 700 tickets for the derby in May 2023.

The club cited "safety and security" concerns and has been keen to receive a bigger allocation since then.

According to UEFA rules, five per cent of clubs' allocations should be given to visiting fans.

An SPL statement read: "Following engagement with both clubs, the SPFL is pleased to confirm that Rangers FC and Celtic FC will provide ticket allocations of around 5% for away supporters for SPFL matches between the two clubs.

"This will be effective from Scottish Premiership season 2024/25, subject to all necessary requirements being satisfied at both Ibrox and Celtic Park.

"It does not affect the remaining two league matches between the clubs in season 2023/24, which will remain at a zero allocation for away supporters."

Celtic are at the at the top of the Scottish Premiership with 71 points, although Rangers are one point behind and have a game in hand.
