It was at a key point in the game with Bayern and Real Madrid locked at 1-1, with Vinicius Jr's opener cancelled out by Leroy Sane.

Kane made it 2-1 despite his England teammate's attempts to put him off.

Speaking after the game, Kane said: "To be honest I don't know what he was saying. He was mumbling... I'd have to ask him what he said.

"Once I'm in that moment I'm in that zone and I block everything out but I'm sure he was saying something to try and put me off! Thankfully it was okay for me."

Vinicius Jr went on to add a second, from the penalty spot, to see the match end 2-2 and take it to the Bernabeu all square ahead of the second leg on May 4.

For Kane, however, it was his 43rd goal of the season in just his 43rd game for Bayern.

Reflecting on his debut campaign after joining from Tottenham, he said: "Yeah, it's been a good season so far. Like I said, it's just about the next game week away from home against Real Madrid.

"Everything we are fighting for this year is in this competition. It will be tough, but we've got to go there with full belief."

The 30-year-old is yet to win a trophy in his career, but insisted that his first season at Bayern would not be defined by silverware.

He added: "I'm here for many years. It's not just a one off year I've come for. The expectation at the start of the year was to win trophies.

"It hasn't gone our way in the Bundesliga or the cup, but the Champions League is the biggest one of all.

"If we can somehow get our hands on that then it would be an amazing season."

On the domestic front his goals could land him another individual prize in the shape of the European Golden Boot thanks to his league form.

With three games to play in the Bundesliga season, the striker has 35 goals and is miles ahead of rivals Kylian Mbappe and Stuttgart's Serhou Guirassy.

The award, presented to the top scoring player in Europe, has been won by Lionel Messi six times.
